THE COMPANY
In January 2007, in Paris, three bilingual French-English actresses, Georgina Ridealgh, Diana Stewart-Rossiné and Bela Grushka, launched an ambitious programme of plays to be performed in both English and French, as a link between the two cultures they love so much.
Mondaysat7 - so named because their first performances took place on Monday evenings at 7 pm - produced 11 short plays, ranging from Samuel Beckett to Tenessee Williams.
Their vision is partly social, and educational - to reach into schools, hospitals, prisons and retirement homes - but also, above all, to entertain and challenge audiences wherever they gather.
In May 2008 their dream of performing Shakespeare in English and French in the UK was realised at the Mission Theatre, Bath as part of the Bath Fringe Festival, followed by performances in Burton Joyce a village near the city of Nottingham. Audience response was overwhelming : "thought-provoking, entertaining and moving".
Now SWEET LADIES is in Paris at the Théâtre de L'Epouvantail, with both French and English versions, from September 18th for a seven week run. This is the dynamic result of joining forces with director/writer Kit Leonard and composer/producer Charles Allen Wall.
